There are many ways you can use this space to favour your brand, however, Facebook does have some limitations on what can be done, such as: call to actions such as "Share this page", "Like This page" and pricing / purchasing information.
This is not the end of the world though, as it keeps Facebook pages clean and keeps them from looking like flashing banner advertisements and keeps things ‘sane’ for choice of a better word.
There has been a pretty slow adoption of the Facebook Timeline in South Africa in my opinion, as many of the major social brands are not currently using the feature.
The end of life for the current default layout is at the end of March 2012 - so get prepared and make your brand page stand out!
